For children with special needs give specific and direct instructions "Always look to the left and right before crossing the street. Show your child how you look left and look right. Establish exactly what's off limits: the stove, the roof, the windowsill, etc... Make a chart of specific safety rules and post it in your child's room and in the kitchen as a daily reminder.
